Move With Confidence

I’m Here to Break Down Your Riding Difficulties

There is one principle that should not be abandoned: the rider must first learn to control themselves before they can control the horse.

Enhancing Your Riding, Body, and Connection with Your Horse

Hi, I’m Samantha Hulme. A restorative exercise specialist, horse & rider musculoskeletal therapist, and qualified riding coach with over 25 years of experience helping thousands of horses and riders move and ride better. My lifelong passion for horses drives my commitment to continuous learning and helping riders like you.

Through my combined knowledge, I can see both you and your horse clearly, and understand what you need to reach your riding goals together.

Horse and rider communication

Let me give you a proverbial leg up with your riding!

I have been where you are today. The fun times, the eureka moments, the falls, riding plateaus and confused patches!

What do I bring to the table (or stable)? A lifelong passion for horses, oodles of diverse experience, and an understanding of riders at every level.

I speak your language, whether you are:

  • A rider who isn’t progressing as you would like, or feel stuck in a riding rut.

  • Advanced riders, I can give you clarity with those subtle refinements.

  • Mature riders, it’s never too late to make changes.

  • Injured riders, I am most certainly here for you. To get you back to enjoying your time in the saddle.

A Simpler Path to Better Riding — Putting the Spotlight on You

“I look after my horse, but not myself.” I hear this often, but here’s the truth:

How you ride directly affects which parts of your horse’s body they can use, which shapes their posture.
The rider's influence is often overlooked when horses face movement challenges and some lameness issues.

Your posture might be a mix of:

  • Overused areas — for example, tension pulling you to one side, affecting your balance in the saddle

  • Weaknesses — like a hand that seems to have a mind of its own.

  • Blind spots — where corrections feel strange or hard to connect with.

Investing in yourself benefits you, your riding, and your horse by helping to:

– Improve balance, coordination, and feel in the saddle
– Prevent premature joint wear and tear
– Ease hip, shoulder, and back stiffness, aches, and tension while riding
– Support healthy aging and overall well-being

I’ll show you the specific movements and rider exercises your body needs — and how to easily weave them into your everyday life — with no special equipment or extra time required.

I spent years searching for answers and found something amazing

If you sit in a room full of horse riders, it’s rare to find someone who hasn’t stacked up a few rider injuries (I see you!). Or become a casualty of yard work.

At age 20, I seem to embark on a career of constant injuries:

– Ruptured ankle ligaments
– Multiple fractures
– Torn muscles
– Neck, shoulder, and back pain
– Significant hip injury

For 10 years, I could only walk 30 minutes daily. I had to stop riding and my health was affected.

I tried every form of therapy and movement therapy, but conventional therapy didn’t help. Restorative exercise gave me my life back, enabling me to do things I never thought would be possible again.
